This programme is for staff who have had little experience of disability and the impact it can have on students and their families. As students differ in their personalities, abilities, aspirations, cultural affiliations, employment opportunities, and types of disability it is important to raise the awareness of staff and schools, through disability and equality training, so that they are fully equipped to meet the individual needs of their students.

Within the field of personal development, it is now recognised that social and emotional development advances children’s success in school and life. Social and emotional learning contributes to children’s academic achievement and supports them in being engaged, life-long learners who are self-aware, caring and connected to others.
The programme will explore a whole school approach to developing the emotional and social wellbeing of children using lessons underpinned by social and emotional learning and will support teachers in monitoring children’s progress, personal learning planning and identifying their own development needs.
